Serene Dog Care's groom team is all Fear Free Certified. This means we will do our utmost best to make your dog as comfortable as possible during the grooming process.
However, if your dog has ever bitten a groomer or veterinarian in its life, Serene Dog Care reserves the right to require blood work testing PRIOR to a grooming appointment to rule out any underlying health conditions. If the blood work shows that there are no underlying conditions, then Serene Dog Care holds the right to require grooming training acclimation sessions, and also proper muzzle training with one of our trainers to ensure the safety of your dog and the grooming team.
When we groom with a muzzle on, the dog will get groomed for ten minutes, then take a five to ten minute break with the muzzle off, to reduce stress.
Our grooming haircuts for dogs with aggression, fear, anxiety, and stress are comfort and health grooms, not just aesthetics.
For the safety of the dog, there will be very minimal scissor work to reduce injuries if the dog were to quickly move or snap.
The groom team at Serene Dog Care may also need to break the groom up into multiple days if the dog shows signs of extreme stress.
I understand that Serene Dog Care will always have the best interest of my pet in mind for the physical and mental health of my pet.
I understand that they hold the right to require blood work to rule out underlying health issues, require muzzle training, and require further acclimation training to ensure my dog is as comfortable as possible during their groom.
I understand that if my pet takes multiple days to groom, I am still required to pay the groom in full, and additional fees may be added to complete the groom on multiple days.
I understand that if I am not willing to take Serene Dog Care's grooming plan for my dog, then I will be referred to another groomer. I will not hold Serene Dog Care liable, nor slander them for doing so.

I understand that if my dog shows up to their grooming appointment with fleas or flea dirt present, my dog will be immediately sent home and rescheduled until the fleas are completely removed.
I understand that Serene Dog Care holds the right to refuse service to any dog with fleas present. Serene Dog Care does NOT perform flea and tick baths due to the harmful effects (cancer, skin irritation, burns) they can cause to humans.
If my dog has fleas, I agree to get a preventative and/or treatment to kill and remove the fleas and eggs before my next grooming appointment. The only foolproof method to remove fleas is an ingested or topical additive for your pet. However, if you choose a topical preventative, please make sure to wait at least three days before giving your pet a bath, so it does not wash off.
I understand that fleas can cause flea dermatitis (severe skin irritation that can lead to hair loss).
I understand that if my dog arrives with fleas on them, I will be charged a $150 cleaning fee, and my pet will immediately be sent home. We have multiple other dogs in the facility for training or playtime, and we cannot risk the health of the other animals.
Ticks are known to cause anemia and other health issues such as Lyme Disease, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichiosis, as well as other diseases. Additionally, removal of ticks can and will cause small sores where the ticks was attached. This may present as redness and sometimes swelling. A follow up to your vet is highly recommended to treat any tick-borne disease(s) that may be present.
Serene Dog Care will do their absolute best to remove the ticks present, but may not be able to remove them all if some are in an unseen area, or are excessively small or nymph ticks, which can be the size of a pinhead.
I agree that Serene Dog Care is not responsible for any scabbing, sores, or swelling that remains after the tick(s) have been removed or for any diseases caused by the ticks.
I understand that all ticks will be removed to the best of their ability, but others may be hiding areas that cannot be seen such as inside ear canals, inside the anus or genitals, or other areas that cannot be noticed.
I understand that if my dog has an excessive amount of ticks that require more than 30 minutes to remove, I will be charged an extra fee of $25 per additional 30 minutes that it takes to remove the ticks.
I understand that a preventative is the best method to avoid ticks.

I am aware that my pet may require extra time to demat in order to give them the groom that I desire, however I also understand that a shave down may be required for the health of the dog.
I understand that for excessive dematting, the fee will be $25 per extra 30 minutes on top of their normal grooming price, not including breaks for playtime (if applicable).
I agree to pay the extra fee in order to get the groom that I desire.
I also acknowledge the following:
Matted coats can cause a variety of problems for your pet. The mats do not allow proper circulation to get down to the skin, causing the body's heat to amplify in the matted areas. This can cause overheating for your pet, the development of hotspots, and/or extremely dry/flaky skin.
Opportunistic parasites such as fleas or ticks may be hiding under the mats as well. This further irritates your pet's skin, as well as can make your pet anemic.
Severe matting can also affect blood flow to the areas, causing bruising and affecting mobility. It is possible that your pet's skin may become irritated or nicked during this process. We take all precautions necessary to avoid this and we also may use special soothing shampoos and conditioners on these pets.
We at Serene Dog Care are not responsible for problems that may arise when pets have been brought to us in this condition. All vet expenses, if there are any, are the owner's responsibility.
I also understand that Serene Dog Care will always have the best interest of the health of my pet in mind. Sometimes a shave down may be required to ensure the comfort of the pet.
If a shave down is required, we will contact you to discuss the best options for your pet, and will not shave your dog until you give us permission to do so.

It is known that there can be a variety of skin and hair coat care problems that may occur after a complete shave down of a dog or cat, particularly the double coated and short coated breeds, or those often referred to as the FUR bearing, rather than the HAIR bearing breeds.
Those problems may include, but not limited, to the following:
Loss of hair growth "Coat Funk" - The coat not growing back in the same texture and/or color prior to shaving
Bald patches
Hyper pigmentation of the skin - Darkening of the skin where the coat has not grown back
Sunburn
Loss of guard coat - top layer of coat
Cowlick's - fur regrowth in different directions
Difficulty with body temperature self regulation
Knowing that any and all the above conditions can occur, I authorize Serene Dog Care to shave down my pet.
I hold Serene Dog Care and its members harmless if any and all of the above conditions occur on my pet.
I also understand that Serene Dog Care holds the right to refuse to shave down any pet due to the serious problems that can occur from a shave down.
This form applies to, but not limited to: Golden retrievers, all shepherd breeds, great Pyrenees, husky, Labradors, Dobermans, beagle, pug, boxer, etc.

I understand that my pet(s) are seniors and/or have existing medical conditions. I am aware grooming can cause stress that can exaggerate or expose new problems, or even lead to a serious medical event or even death in some extreme cases.
I understand that there are mental and behavioral changes in senior dogs or dogs with medical issues (including but not limited to separation anxiety, aggression, etc) and they are groomed for comfort only and not for looks. These grooms are designed to provide comfort to the pet, and are for function over form. They are done when the pet can no longer cooperate with the grooming process as they once would have.
Serene Dog Care will address any problem areas on the pet to prolong their comfort in between grooms. This may mean that certain areas will be shorter than they once were since maintaining the pet in between grooms may be difficult. Since the pet may not be able to undergo a full grooming, if/when the pet cannot continue with the groom, the groom will end.
We will do our very best to complete as much as possible, but we must put the needs of the pet first. The groom may be to be completed in stages, and the pet may need to return in order to complete the groom.
I understand that regardless of how much of the groom is completed, the full price of the groom will be due at the end of the grooming. Secondary fees may be incurred if the pet must return in order to complete the groom.I release Serene Dog Care and their staff from any liability if any problems/medical issues should occur due to the fact that my pet is a senior or has existing medical and/or behavioral issues.
As the owner of my pet, I am solely responsible for any and all medical bills related to my pet and give permission to Serene Dog Care to seek veterinary care at the nearest vet in case of an emergency.
I understand that Serene Dog Care has the best interest of my pet in mind and will do everything to keep my pet safe. If Serene Dog Care feels that grooming will be too stressful for my pet, the groom will be stopped immediately, and I will be contacted to pick up the pet and payment for services rendered will be paid.
I give permission to Serene Dog Care to give the best care possible to my pet(s) and I release them, their employees and members from any liability that may arise from grooming my pet. I will not slander or libel Serene Dog Care in the event of an accident or emergency.

Mats and tangles can be severely painful to your dog, as they are constantly pulling the skin. Even very mild hair mats can cause skin irritation and progress to infected lesions. A wound left unattended can accumulate maggots and infections.
Mats around the hind end can cause an accumulation of feces and in severe cases, impede defecation.
More severe hair mats can cause strangulating wounds, most often seen on an animal's limb. The mat can grow around the leg in a circumferential fashion causing blood supply to be cut off.
In severe but reversible cases, the mat cuts into and sometimes through the skin which can be surgically and medically treated over a period of time, typically weeks to months.
In extremely severe but irreversible cases, the mat can cut down to the bone and /or become so tight that blood supply is cut off on that limb, requiring amputation.
Here at Serene Dog Care, we take matting very seriously to consider the health of the animal.
The best way to reduce matting is to regularly maintain your pet's coat with daily brushing.
For dogs with long curly hair, that is most prone to matting, Serene Dog Care will provide you with a brush and metal comb to ensure that your pet's coat is well maintained in between grooms. We will also instruct you on how to properly brush and what the main areas of focus should be. Serene Dog Care's groom team will also inform you of a proper grooming schedule for the needs of your pet.
I understand that my pet's coat will need to be regularly maintained at home in between my scheduled grooming appointments in the way that Serene Dog Care has instructed me to do so.
I also understand that Serene Dog Care will only provide me with ONE severe dematting shave down, and that if I do not maintain my dog's coat at home and keep the requested grooming schedule, Serene Dog Care will refer me to another groomer.
I understand that Serene Dog Care will always keep my dog's best interest in mind, and that their team will always put the dog's health before everything else, and I will not hold them liable or slander them for doing so.
